PINK

So, today was the day Jadyn finally got her cast. The Cambridge orthopedic surgeons were on vacation and couldn't get her in until 2:30 Thursday, so I called Zanesville and they got her in today. He said it didn't require surgery. She'd missed the growth plate...so glad! Dr. Layne was the doctor. After he looked at her x-rays with us, he left so the nurse could show her the color choices. While we were waiting, she literally fell off the exam table. I'm not kiddin' ya! She was leaning on a step stool and completely fell forward onto the floor. The child is the most accident prone kid! She's a coordinated clumsy! Since Tara and Jeff's wedding is next weekend and the colors are pink and orange, she got a pink cast. VERY PINK!
They said it is waterproof, but if she gets it wet today, she should keep it dry the next. Two days in a row would be too much, but that she could completely submerge it in chlorinated water! Woo Hoo! She can stll swim! Thank God! I was thinking she'd be miserable! She only needs to wear it for 4 weeks and they'll x-ray it again and remove the cast. Her appointment is August 3 at 9:40 a.m. She'll still have a few weeks of summer left without a cast!
Here's what the report said:

There has been a cortical buckle fracture of the distal radius

centered at the metadiaphyseal junction. Cortical buckling is primary

along the dorsal aspect. The ulna and carpal bones are intact.

It's Broken!

Last night, Byesville had fireworks that they let off I'd guess from Jackson Park because we had a perfect view from our back deck. We didn't even know they were doing them. The girls had gone to bed and Jadyn came down saying she could see them from her window. So, we all went out to the back deck to watch. Jadyn tried moving one of the chairs to another spot on the deck. Apparently, she didn't have one of the legs of the chair on the deck, but rather on the steps. When she sat down, the chair fell backwards down the stairs with Jadyn in it. She ran in the house immediately saying she think she broke her arm. But see, Jadyn has this high tolerance for pain. She barely reacted. She never cried. We got the boo boo bear ice pack out of the freezer and she slept on the couch. I told her if it still hurt in the morning, we'd go get some x-rays.  Well, in the morning she was still babying it so we went to the ER around noon. I was totally expecting them to just say it was a sprain, but sure enough, it was BROKEN! They said the fracture was in her wrist. Bad weekend for it since it's the 4th of July. Most dr. offices are closed on Monday so I left a message with Alquami's office that we'd like to get in on Tuesday. We are hoping to get a waterproof cast in hot pink for Tara's wedding on the 17th since Jadyn is a flowergirl.  Here she is with her temporary cast they did in the hospital. She as to wear this until she sees Dr. Alquami.
And the one below is her being silly
